The Lord's Supper,
or Communion, should be a soul-searching time of reflection -- an occasion not to be entered into lightly. Read Paul's warning, then prepare your heart before partaking of the Lord's Supper, making sure you are right not only with Almighty God but with believers.
Dear Heavenly Father:
In the name of your Son Jesus, the name above all names, we seek your mercy and grace, your forgiveness and cleansing from our sins. As we prepare to commemorate once again how Jesus died on the cross so we might live with You forever in heaven, we ask for the Holy Spirit to search our hearts and bring unconfessed sins to mind that we might fully restore our relationship with You and with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We stand on the promise of 1st John 1:19 that You are faithful and just and will forgive us and cleanse us from our unrighteousness. Father, You we praise and thank and worship in Jesus' name. Amen.
The Lord's Supper is celebrated many ways. Typically the ordinance is performed during a Sunday worship service. But, the truth is, the Bible doesn't specify exactly when or where or how. We can draw insights from the Passover meal Jesus shared with His disciples before going to the cross. Paul's writings shed additional light. We at the Sonshine Worship Service ask you to let the Holy Spirit be your guide. Ask for His peace, then gather the symbolic bread and cup and join us in Communion.
Let us break bread together on our knees.
Let us break bread together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees with my face
to the rising son, O Lord, have mercy on me.
Let us drink the cup together on our knees.
Let us drink the cup together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees, with my face
to the rising son, O Lord, have mercy on me.

For I received from the Lord what I pass on to you:
The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread and, when He had given thanks, He broke it and said:
"This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." -- 1 Corinthians 11:23-24
In the same way, after supper He took the cup saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." -- 1 Corinthians 11:25
For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.
-- 1 Corinthians 11:26
Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. -- 1 Corinthians 11:27-28

Precious Savior and Lord:
Thank you for offering your unblemished body and sinless blood as the perfect Lamb of God to attone for our sins. Jesus, help us to realize and fully appreciate your excruciating sacrifice for us at Calvary. May we always remember the price You paid in full to save us from the eternal fires of hell. Help us to stay right with you and right with others.

Now let us leave this place singing a hymn of praise, cleansed and refreshed from this Communion with You, the King of King and Lord or Lords. May we now arise and go from here determined all the more to please You and accomplish your will. Amen.
