   Why have an ordinary website?
Would you reduce your ministry to a windshield flyer or yellow page ad? Of course not! There's so much so say in every way, right? Yet that is what many ministries do with their web page.
Perhaps that's why more churches and religious groups aren't interested in web sites. If you only used a car to back down the driveway to pick up your morning newspaper, why own one, right? Like cars, web sites are capable to so much more than most Christians now can imagine.

Why a web site?

Take a closer look at some church or denomination sites. See what they offer: the basics of who, what, when, where -- right? Who is on the staff. What the activities are. When worship begins. Where the building is located. Too bad the questions of why and how aren't adequately answered.
Why ...? How ...? The why is Jesus and the how is the Great Commission.

Except for a "Roman Road" or "Plan of Salvation" page in case an unsaved soul wanders in by mistake, how many Christian web sites exalt Jesus in any meaningful way, shape or form?
Where's the heart-touching influence of testimony? Where's the faith-bolstering joy of answered prayer? Where's the powerful impact of God's living Word that's able to convict and sanctify? How often does a Christian site attempt to make disciples and teach them to obey everything Jesus has commanded?
Do you realize that, when it comes to discipleship, most things worthy of a Sunday School room or sanctuary can be accomplished online? In a more captivating and exciting way at that? Think about it: Sermons, lessons, prayer meetings, Bible-study courses, discussions, fellowship -- it's possible on the Internet, even preferable for some seekers.
Why not capitalize on the novelty of the interactive web to spark new life into discipleship efforts? People are going online in droves -- why not meet their point of need and guide them toward God rather then let them click their way straight into hell?
The task is too big and the hour too late not to harness everything God puts at our command. That's what Paul would tell you today.
If a web site is your ministry's windshield flyer, your yellow page ad, then check with God to see if He envisions a more important purpose. Please pray to see if a Spirit-filled Internet site might help your church or religious organization better accomplish the Great Commission.
